French Country Home Decor Foyer

French Country home decor has always been a favorite and today I am embracing it.

French Country home decor has always been a favorite and today I am embracing it.French Country home decor is back in the house!  It’s been a little quiet around here because I just returned from the most amazing weekend.  I attended the Haven Conference (a conference for DIY and home decor bloggers) and I’m newly inspired.  I have so many ideas and new and exciting things in store for this little blog and can’t wait to show you.  In the meantime, I needed a little creative output and decided the foyer needed a little update.

French Country Home Decor

I have been feeling the pull of farmhouse a little more in my designs and although I love farmhouse, French Country home decor will always have my heart.  It started when I ran across this sweet jardiniere at the thrift store.  It was marked just $15 and I was so thrilled to bring it home.

It has some areas that are pitted and not in the best shape, but I think it gives it a little more character.  I think that is the part of farmhouse that I love…the chippy, pitted, weathered, and worn look.  So, in my mind I’m imagining a French Country cottage that has been weathered and worn by the salt air of the ocean.  Sounds heavenly doesn’t it?  Now if I just had some amazing French bread and cheese to go along with it.

I’ve definitely had the coastal breezes to go along with it and the late afternoon rain storms.

One thing jumped out at me at the conference that has just stuck with me.  Be yourself.  It sounds like such a simple thing to do right?  I mean, can we really be someone else even if we tried really, really hard?  Not gonna happen.  It’s almost like I needed permission to embrace the French Country home decor I see in my mind even if it doesn’t look quite like any other French Country home decor.  It’s my own take on it.

And I’m running with it.  So, I’m now passing this along to you.  Be yourself.  Do what you want to do with your home.  Gain inspiration from others but create the home of your dreams.  Follow a trend or not…you do you.

The next few months are going to be fun!  It will be a learning curve for me as I’m embracing some new media avenues I have never used before.  As I struggle through the technology of them I keep reminding myself all this learning is good for my brain.  Sometimes that works and sometimes I just get really frustrated with the technology…just like you do.  I hope you come along for the ride!

Here’s a few things you can do to make sure you are in on this journey I am on.

Thanks Cindy! It was one of those thrift store trips that make you feel like the clouds parted and sunshine shone down on it. Amazing. Thanks for stopping by!

Are you abandoning coastal from your design?

      Hey Beth!

No, I’m not abandoning coastal from my design. I’m just mixing a lot more of my French Country love in with some of the coastal. In my head I’m envisioning a coastal cottage on the French Riviera. I guess a little more caftan dress rather than flip flops. Does that make sense?
